Acls Classes When you start out as an EMT or a nurse you are generally taught how to deal with some of the most severe physical emergencies imaginable, including traumatic injuries and extreme illness. When you are ready to move up the ladder to become an emergency room nurse or a paramedic, you will be required to take ACLS classes. ACLS or Advance Cardiac Life Support classes will teach you far more than the BLS or Basic Life Support classes you took when you entered the field. When you study Basic Life Support you learned how to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation or CPR. This is the basic practice required to bring a patient who has stopped breathing back to life. You will also have learned the basic ABC's of first aid, which are Airway, Breathing and circulation. It is your job to make sure that you secure the airway of the patient, ensure that you asses and stabilize the patient's breathing and keep a very close eye on his circulation. While these skills are reinforced in ACLS classes you will also be taught other methods of intervention that are far more advanced. Your ACLS classes will teach you advanced methods of intubation to open the patient's airway. You will also learn the proper techniques for using the AED or Automated Electronic Defibrillator and the standard defibrillator carried in most ambulances and in all emergency rooms. You will learn what drugs to use and how to administer them when they are needed as part of the resuscitation effort. Training will also be provided to you to teach you how to quickly read an ECG printout to help you make on the spot decisions regarding the treatment needed for your patient. ACLS classes will help you learn how to start intravenous lines in your patient so that you can provide medical treatments through the use of IV medications and you will learn how to perform surgical interventions such as the placement of chest tubes and central lines as needed on a patient by patient basis. Anyone who is planning on working in an emergency room setting as a medical professional will have to take ACLS classes before they are allowed to work in this environment. For medical students these classes are routine part of their rotation in medical school. For the aspiring paramedic these classes are offered through hospitals, colleges and private training companies. The goal of these classes is to properly train the medical professional to be able to identify the problem and create a long term treatment plan for the patient as well as be able to make critical decisions on the spot. If you are ready to become ACLS certified and want to take ACLS classes to make this happen you need to talk to the staff at the Master Train Clinical Simulation Center. Here you can take the ACLS courses that you need to become certified and work as a Paramedic or emergency room nurse. They provide training in a variety of topics for over 5,000 medical professionals every year and have been doing so for over 10 years.
